Charlie’s Christmas Feasting Round Up!

Would it even be December if there wasn’t a host of loosely Christmas themed novelty menus on offer? I will gladly admit that I adore a Christmas twist on anything, sandwiches, burgers, small plate offerings, you name it, I crave it.

So as a mental reminder for me and a list for you, here are a few of my top picks for dining out festively in Bristol this December!

Mellee’s Kitchen @ Nectar House

I already raved about these guys in a previous post and I am totally excited about them coming back with a festive menu! Not only does it look great and has brought a bit of a modern twist on the traditional turkey and stuffing, but those incredible crumpets are also back!

Make sure you book your table for this one ASAP

The Grace

I’ve waxed lyrical about my favourite small plates venue (one of a small handful!) and their Christmas menu never fails to impress. Last year boasted pheasant and bacon pie, goose cassoulet and venison scotch egg to help get the festive gout well and truly started.

The Burger Joint

Personally, I don’t consider it Christmas until I have had The Burger Joint Christmas Burger. An aesthetically pleasing stack of turkey escalope, topped with stuffing, cheese and that all-important cranberry sauce. With chunky chips and maybe mac and cheese as a side, you’ve got yourself a belting ode to Christmas gluttony.

Bristol Spirit

If you read my rave review on tapas roasts and missed out, you’ve got one day (18th December!) to get yourself booked in for Christmas scran cooked by Dinner With Ness. The menu will get everyone salivating with plenty of vegan options for those who prefer Christmas cruelty free. That syrup and ginger sponge has my name on it.

1766 Bar Kitchen

Not only are the staff lovely, the cream teas exquisite and the roasts better than they have any right to be, the team at 1766 have come up with a gorgeous Christmas menu with enough tradition for turkey fans but also some delicious looking modern ideas that will keep the rest of us interested. Possibly one of the most dramatic places to have your Christmas dinner, this will no doubt impress the family!

The Vittoria

Remember “that roast”? The incredible team that brought us bone marrow on Sundays and cooked half a pigs head for me and friends “just because” (i will write this up very soon) also have a Christmas menu that insists you attend wearing elasticated trousers. The theme is a medieval banquet and you could be tucking into a duck stuffed with chicken, huge pies and a full oxtail. Book ASAP!

Tsukemono

Anyone that knows me well, knows I cannot get ENOUGH of the food Tsukemono serve and their Christmas menu sounds like an absolute winner. Book ASAP for a total eschewing of turkey and crackers, instead, tucking into dumplings, pork and rice and cheesecake. This is one not to be missed!

Alma Tavern

The Alma has one of the most exciting menus 11 months of the year anyway and thier Christmas offering is no exception. Featuring some epic takes on winter warmers such as jamon butter, pheasant risotto and Dorset cake, this bar cum kitchen cum theatre is a must-try on the Christmas food tour.
