This week we have Pop-ups, bread, burgers and more!
Salt Street launches at Bristol Spirit
Leon Holland of Asado fame has broken away from the flame licked grill and has launched his own pop up called Salt Street. Playing with the American flavours he adores, his first menu will be covering the coveted Cuban sandwich. Of course, the team at Bristol Spirit will be pairing this hot and tasty Cubano’s with some of their fresh cocktails, do not miss out on being the first to try this new popup!
Joe’s Bakery moves into The Breadstore
Last week I reported that The Breadstore was closing on Gloucester Road with a final flourish of a snarky note left on the door. Well it seems we won’t be subjected to the building turning into another estate agents and Joe’s Bakery have opened up on the site. Joe’s has a great reputation and I am very pleased to have them a bit closer to me. Please, support your local!
Burger Bear is open…sort of
Work still seems to be going on on the Gloucester Road site but my beady eyes haven’t seen the place looking like it’s there yet. Then opening date seems to be July so we shall see. Despite this Burger Bear have opened in a shipping container at Motion, where you can either pop in during lunch or after work or order some of the top burger nosh via the Deliveroo app.

Hausbar to finally reopen as Kinkajou
Hausbar was the original speakeasy before they were cool. Tucked away on Belgrave Road, the opulent and well-respected cocktail bar put the class into classy drinks. After 12 years of trading, they shut the doors and we have all been waiting with baited breath to see what might happen next. Finally, we have word that Kinkajou will be opening up today after taking the bar over. I’d love to tell you more but they’re obviously keeping their cards very close to their chest.
Gambas announces its opening date
Kieren and Imogen Waite have their fingers in all the pies right now and have announced their eagerly awaited 5th opening at Cargo. On Tuesday the 3rd June, you will be able to head to Gambas and experience authentic Spanish and Catalonian tapas with a leaning towards fresh seafood. There will also be 10 daily specials up on the board so you are guaranteed a new experience each time you pop in. They aim to appeal to those who want to pop in for a cold beer and a nibble as well as people that want to have a full tapas experience, it looks fab so make sure you pop in soon.
